All wrestlers and their parents are required to attend the meet and greet with Coach Pat Butler on Dec. 20th, 2011 and may come anytime between 6-8 PM on this date at the McKenney Middle School Wrestling Room located at 99 State Street, Canton, NY 13617.
Season:
January 5th-April 15th, 2012 – with practices on Mondays and Thursdays 6-7:30 PM
First Practice:
Thursday, January 5th, 2012 at 6:00 PM
Northern New York Youth Wrestling League:
The Canton Pee Wee Wrestling Program has been invited to join the Northern New York Youth Wrestling League and participate in their Dual Meet tournaments for the 2012 season. This league consists of many of the wrestling clubs that we compete against in open tournaments each season and is designed to promote and strengthen wrestling in NNY. For those who are interested in participating, in addition to our weekly practices and the optional open tournaments, we will have a dual meet team that will participate in approximately 4 dual meets this season. It is anticipated that the dual meets will be held on Friday evenings and are head to head competitions against other clubs with wrestlers competing in predetermined weight classes with points awarded to each team based on match results. There may also be some dual meet tournaments to participate in. In order to participate in the league, it is important that we have a good idea of how many wrestlers have an interest in participating so please let Coach Butler know.
Each participant will need to sign up for a NYWAY Wrestling Association Membership Card prior to participating. Cards cost $15. These cards will also be required for many of the open tournaments as many NYS teams are currently transitioning from UAA to NYWAY. Depending on which open tournaments you participate in for 2012, it is possible that you may need to purchase both a NYWAY and AAU card.
